Day 3 Scripture – 40 Days of Prayer #6

1 JOHN 5:12
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Whoever believes in God’s Son has eternal life. He is all you need. You don’t need to wait for eternal life because it begins the moment you believe. You don’t need to work for it because it is already yours. You don’t need to worry about it because you have been given eternal life by God himself—and it is guaranteed.

Day 2 Scripture – 40 Days of Prayer #6
08-18-08

PHILIPPIANS 1:20-21
20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

To those who don’t believe in God, life on earth is all there is, and so it is natural for them to strive for this world’s values: money, popularity, power, pleasure, and prestige. For Paul, however, to live meant to develop eternal values and to tell others about Christ, who alone could help them see life from an eternal perspective. Paul’s whole purpose in life was to speak out boldly for Christ and to become more like him. Thus, Paul could confidently say that dying would be even better than living, because in death he would be removed from worldly troubles, and he would see Christ face to face (1 John 3:2-3).

What we really need to ask ourselves…… If you’re not ready to die, then you’re not ready to live. Make certain of your eternal destiny; then you will be free to serve—devoting your life to what really counts, without fear of death.

Day 1 Scripture – 40 Days of Prayer #6
08-17-08

HEBREWS 10:25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

To neglect Christian meetings is to give up the encouragement and help of other Christians. We gather together to share our faith and to strengthen one another in the Lord. As we get closer to the day when Christ will return, we will face many spiritual struggles, and even times of persecution. Anti-Christian forces will grow in strength. Difficulties should never be excuses for missing church services. Rather, as difficulties arise, we should make an even greater effort to be faithful in attendance.

Dear Lord,
We thank you for all you have done, are doing and will do for us. We ask that as we read your WORD we also allow the WORD to read us! We humbly ask that you reveal to us what we need to know, as you intended and that we will go out into the world to bring you glory each and every day! In Jesus name we pray. AMEN.

Disclaimer: Round #6 Scriptures will be from the NIV (New International Version) Bible unless otherwise noted. Beginning with Round #1, the majority of devotional notes are from the Life Application Study Bible. In some cases, I also add thoughts and ideas from my own personal & scholastic studies. These are, in no way, to be assumed to be the United Methodist beliefs. If you EVER read or hear something that “doesn’t sound quite right”…. This is the Holy Spirit sending YOU a message…. it’s something YOU need to dig deeper into. Study for yourself. The Scripture and Prayer ministry here is for inspirational and exhortation of all of our Christian brothers and sisters. All of which are to be for the Glory of God!! May the Lord bless the readings of these scriptures. Amen. CB
